FINCA RD Congo the national Day of the Tree

On December 5, the Democratic Republic of the Congo celebrated the International Day of the Tree by organizing numerous activities around the global theme of “Planting to preserve the future”. This year, the Association nationale des institutions de microfinance (ANIMF), led by Mrs. Mirela, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and in collaboration with the Institut Bobokoli, organized a tree-planting campaign to symbolize the legacy to be passed on to future generations.

During the event, Ms. Mirela, who is also Managing Director of FINCA RDC, spoke to the students about the importance of raising awareness of tree planting. She evoked the sad example of Haiti, where a large proportion, if not all, of the trees were cut down, plunging the country into an unprecedented crisis several years later,

She reminded everyone that every tree planted is equivalent to saving several lives. Trees play a crucial role in preserving our environment, helping to purify the air and regulate the climate, while also preventing soil erosion and providing essential habitats for many species. Raising awareness of tree planting is therefore essential to ensure a sustainable future. By encouraging students to take an active part in this cause, Ms Mirela has promoted the preservation of our ecosystem and combated the devastating effects inflicted by deforestation.
